No updates this week. I'm moving. I guess the neighbors were uncomfortable with the strange noises, and I wanted to avoid unnecessary investigation. Next week will most likely sport a new instrument on Tuesday, and a new art gallery on Wednesday or Thursday.

In case you're getting out the torches and preparing to mob me for the lack of updates, I have an explanation. I know I said I was going to put off the forum for a while, but I just couldn't do it. And it paid off. It's up and running now, and you can get to it here. Please go and talk to your hearts' content. Now I can continue with the regular updates.

In case you haven't already seen, it would appear that there's a new inquisitor online. This site has an encyclopedia of knowledge to fill your eager minds with, and it looks to have a lot more coming. What may cause you the most pain are the egregiously excessive pop-up windows, but the rewards are worth it. Be sure to check out The Cage.

I know, there were no instrument or method updates last week. Three reasons: One, I was experimenting with personal pain/endurance levels. Two, I was trying to install/config a message forum to put up on the site. I got it working, but it's going to take a while before it looks like I want it to, so that's going to take the back burner now while I focus on writing again. Three, I want to get the instrument of the week on a more reliable schedule, and it was skewing everything ajar having it fall in the middle of the week. They will now be on Mondays, and you will have something oh so joyous to look forward to starting your week with. The methods will hopefully follow on Wednesday, and finally the journal entries on Friday.
Now it's back to the virtual parchment for me. The next instrument should be available later this evening.

The first death I ever witnessed was in the spring. I was five years old.
After school, the bus dropped me off at the bottom of the hill, as usual. I was in no hurry to get home. Why should I have been? When you're young, the only reasons you have to be in a hurry are if you're expecting something, and I wasn't. Which is a good thing, because if I had been my life may have taken a different course.
I was halfway up the hill when I heard the squealing tires on the road behind me. Before I could even turn around, I heard a wet thud followed immediately by a yelp of pain. When I did look down to the road below me, what I saw didn't register at first. A yellow Volkswagon at a standstill in the middle of the road. Something lying on the ground a few feet from ... more

I did a little bit of a reorganization. Since I haven't yet put together a timeline, I replaced the icon with a link to the Instruments section. This will give you easy access to the "instrument of the week". And yes, this week's is late, but it's hard to find time to write about something when you're too busy using it.

In order to know virtue, we must acquaint ourselves with vice. Only then can we know the full measure of man. - Quills
What better a way to start this entry than with a quote from the Marquis de Sade. Not only that, but a quote that sums up an attitude not only important to, but required for someone with my particular skills. We cannot go unknowing into the fearsome depths which are required for us to perform the acts of this trade. If we were to do so, we would surely fail. The failure would not be immediate, but imminent nonetheless. And we would not only fail in our task, but ultimately fail ourselves as well.
The art of torture is not now, nor was it ever only a job. It is a way of living, a discipline. Like any ... more
